Takuma Nakamoto, Co-President

Currently a senior majoring in International Relations, he served as Co-President last year before he was re-elected for current position at JCA. He claims his shoga-yaki and his mom's lasagna are the best in the world, but he hasn't demonstrated satisfying cooking skills for JCA events just yet. He is also a Hiroshima Carp fan and a helpless baseball nerd.
-Akiko Hasebe, Co-President

Akiko Hasebe, Co-President

Akiko is an intelligent student and a competent leader of the Japanese Cultural Association. She is always neatly dressed and healthy-looking. While she can be soft-spoken at times, she is very frank and straightforward, obviously in a good way. She joined JCA during her sophomore year and ever since has shown outstanding performance. One of the few true culinary artists of the JCA E-board, her retirement next year (together with Iron Chef Hayato Urabe) will be met with utmost sorrow and will leave a permanent scar on JCA's second name as the "Japanese Cooking Association".

Jennifer Donker Curtius, Events Chair

Jen is a junior from Yokohama concentrating in Chemistry and Econ. Although she claims she cannot peel vegetables with a knife, the 1/16 Dutch lady is an integral part of all the JCA activities ranging from negotiating with SAO to book rooms for our Haunted House to cooking our delicious curry for the annual curry night. She is fun to hang out with and wonderful to work with!
-Chihiro Ikegami, Events Chair

Chihiro Ikegami, Events Chair

Don't let the size of this girl fool you! Chihiro Ikegami is a 2dan in Kendo, so you'd better not get on the bad side of her! Coming from Tokyo, Japan, Chihiro is a sophomore with a strong interest in International Relations. Often called by her nickname "Chima", she also enjoys participating in the Ballroom Dance Team. With a hectic schedule like hers, it's almost impossible to remember what's going on when...luckily she and Reina are equally busy with the same things and often remind each other what's going on in their lives! Please let either of us know if there are any events you'd like JCA to put on!
-Jennifer Donker Curtius, Events Chair

Ryohei Moriguchi, Social Chair

Ryohei Moriguchi was born in the distant land of Japan many many many years ago. Legend has it he was born under the star of party and destined to be JCA's fabulous social chair since infanthood. Ever since his birth he has enjoyed long walks on the beach, drinking gallons of sugar-loaded coffee and supposedly being "the king of videogames." Please challenge him to a game of Smash Brothers one day.
-Kei Yamawaki, General Body Representative

Bo Tao, Publicity Chair

Bo Tao, Co-publicity chair of JCA. Avid dancer, curry enthusiast, and a man of few words, he is a multitalented, multilingual master of publicity, with skills ranging from creating intricate powerpoint slides to designing posters and tableslips in a matter of mere seconds.
-Reina Saiki, Publicity Chair

Reina Saiki, Publicity Chair

Reina is a dancer, whether in ballroom, Offbeat, or just shaking it at parties--and a good one at that. She also likes to publicize events for JCA and draw pretty designs. Her last name "Saiki"--contrary to what some may believe--is not misspelled. It is the Kansai regional version of "Saeki." Don't get it wrong!
-Bo Tao, Publicity Chair

Mai Denawa, Networking Chair

Mai is a nice, responsive and easy-going (in a good way) girl, who is a Senior and concentrating in something,… I don’t know about… prob. Poli-sci?? At the same time, the field of media is where her interests go to since she has worked at a radio station and done internships in TV stations. She likes not just hanging out with people as she and I see each other often at party scenes on weekends, but also being athletic as she just completed her first triathlon in NY in Sep.
It is great working with you, Mai.
-Yasuyuki Goto, Networking Chair

Yasuyuki Goto, Networking Chair

Yasu, our networking co-chair hails from TOKYO, Japan. He is a senior concentrating in International Relations and lives off campus. He is fun-loving, easygoing, and enjoys hanging out with friends. He spent his junior year spring semester in Beijing, and is pretty much fluent in Chinese! If you have any ideas on collaboration events with JCA, let our fantastic networking chair know!

Chio Yokose, Secretary

Chio has tons of friends who are always on the lookout for her as a ghost at the JCA's Haunted House! But Chio in reality is not a scary person; she is probably the calmest and nicest person you'll ever meet, but don't be fooled: she is actually a gymnast who can do all sorts of twists and turns when she needs to. Unfortunately, since she is lactose-intolerant she has never had the joy of eating ice cream!
-Jonathan Lin, Treasurer

Jonathan Lin, Treasurer

Jon Lin. The mastermind behind this fabulous new JCA webpage. As treasurer, he also controls JCA's purse strings. Which means if he's in a good mood, all of JCA benefits (translation: don't make him mad!). But not to worry. Whether he's working at the CIT, doing research in the chemistry lab, devouring curry at a JCA event, or simply refueling at the Ratty, he always has a smile on his face. Because of his many talents and "on-top-of-it" lifestyle, Jon is JCA's go-to guy whenever problems arise. JCA just would not run as smoothly if it weren't for Jon! Jon is lactose-intolerant, and his late-night dish of choice at Jo's is a spicy without. But when he is feeling adventurous, you just might catch him ordering a spicy with!

Kei Yamawaki, General Body Representative

Kei Yamawaki is a mystery. People know that she is a sophomore at Brown, studies Chemistry and above all a GB rep of JCA. But those facts do not explain the array of questions that arises as you get to know her. First of all, why is she so PALE? Is she Japanese, American, or Venezuelan?? If she is Japanese, why can she never cook rice? Rumor has it that she is a great singer, but not many have been in the presence of her display of talent. Finally, she like ostriches, but nobody knows why. To find out the answers to these questions, please visit the basement of Sciences Library. You will probably find her digging into her organic chemistry textbook.

Gerardo Tejada, General Body Representative

Gerardo Tejada (aka G or Tejada-kun) is currently a junior concentrating in East Asian Studies. Gerardo is not Japanese nor is he hapa. He is 100% Latino. His hobbies include breakdancing, skateboarding, parkour-ing, watching anime, and chilling with friends. Often seen with a pet flying squirrel named Chancho, who is an adorable, albeit smelly creature. If Tejada were any animal, he'd be a monkey, so he could fling feces at people, specifically Tran.
-Tran Le, General Body Representative

Tran Le, General Body Representative

As a member of the class of '09, Tran is also an active member of the VSA. She is currently concentrating in Biology and Medicine, among other things (manga, Asian dramas, food, and J-Pop at the top of the list). If Tran were an animal, she would be something evasive.
-Gerardo Tejada, General Body Representative
