Evidence: Response to First Term Inventory

Description of Artifact:

After students documented their goals for next term and evaluated themselves on their performance for the first term, I recorded their goals and responded to each student. In these responses, students received their official term grade and a specific evaluation from the teacher about how they earned their term grade. Following receiving these responses, students had a homework assignment to write about my comments, whether they agreed with them and how they will use them next term.

Reflection:

My responses and the student comments display the second and third step in our term grade conversation. By evaluating each students' goals and grades individually, I was able to help students pinpoint what they needed to do to improve both their grades and the skills they develop in the class. This conversation proved to be a valuable experience as many students did start improving their attendance and turning in the homework more often during the second term.
