*Parents's Weekend (October 14th to 16th)
- we will have a table on the Main Green with Fair Trade coffee samples and sell Hourglass gift certificates; next meeting we will sign up for time slots
- Jenn Baumstein and Jon Bogard have kindly offered to make a quiz featuring questions about poverty, hunger, social injustice, and more; we will give prizes to people who answer correctly (or just try?), probably in the form of Fair Trade chocolate
*Halloween
- Christina, Nicole, and Leigh are heading up the organization of a Fair Trade chocolate extravaganza for Halloween. We'll have chocolate fondue, cookies, etc. and the "ticket" to get in will be filling out a letter to Nestle, asking them to switch to Fair Trade. If anyone wants to help, contact Christina_Ma@brown.edu
*Coffee Exchange
- during our next meeting (October 3rd), a woman who works with Coffee Exchange (a company that sells Fair Trade coffee and tea) will be attending to talk about Fair Trade, microcredit, and organizing so that WE can speak knowledgeably about the issues we're working on.

- in dining halls: if anyone is interested in introducing Fair Trade honey into the Ratty and V-Dub, contact Pablo_Freund@brown.edu
- in the Providence community: Esme is heading up the Thayer St. Fair Trade project to let businesses like Ocean Cafe know that we want Fair Trade; contact Esme_Cullen@brown.edu if interested in helping out

Oxfam meetings are held every Monday night at 8pm in Wilson 101. Tonight we discussed the following:

1. National Day of Action against Genocide in Darfur
Wednesday, September 21, 10:00-4:00 on the Main Green (VERY SOON)
-Learn more about the genocide in Darfur, tell others about the situation, donate money to Doctors Without Borders, and sign petitions and letters to your congressmen, Ruth Simmons, and the Brown faculty senate.
2. Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week
-The Student Hunger and Housing Action Coalition (SHHAC) will be meeting TOMORROW, Tuesday Sept 20, at 9pm in the Lower Blue Room (Faunce), to begin organizing for the Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week in November. All are welcome.
3. Anti-War action in D.C.
-THIS WEEKEND, go to D.C. to protest against the Iraq War and the militarization of U.S. society. If interested, buy tickets ASAP by e-mailing Elizabeth_Sperber@brown.edu or visiting afscstar.org/s24
4. Fair Trade
-We are continuing our effort to bring fair trade coffee, chocolate, bananas, and rice to the dining halls. We hope to expand this project to include restaurants and coffee shops near campus. For more information about fair trade, go to: http://www.oxfamamerica.org
