Welcome back, everyone! We had a delightful meeting last night (aside from the part when a huge wooden art piece fell down and almost killed Stella and Jonathan). Here's what we talked about:

1. The Click Drive to end poverty ( www.povertyfighters.com )
    *starts of February 13th and lasts until the end of March
    *two clicks allowed per day, giving a total of 50 cents to micro-credit loans to people in developing countries
    *universities/colleges compete to raise the most money, and the winner gets a $1000 reward
    *micro-credit loans: the extension of very small loans to unemployed, poor entrepreneurs and others living in poverty who lack collateral, enabling them to engage in self-employment projects that allow them to generate an income

2. Event to kick off the Click Drive: Concert in the Hourglass!
    *Wednesday, February 15th from 8-11 P.M.
    *featuring singer/song-writer Zo Tobi from American University, Tabla Rasa from Brown University, and Tim Drinan from Brown University
    *if you are willing and able to be in charge of the sound system in the Hourglass during the concert, or you know someone who is, please contact Hope_Turner@brown.edu

3. Hourglass funding
    *Jenn and Yeye are working on getting funding for the hourglass project, which we now hope will be ready by Earth Day

4. The Beehive Collective
    *The Beehive Collective ( www.beehivecollective.org ), "an interactive VISUAL tour of the connections between COLONIZATION, MILITARIZATION, and RESOURCE EXTRACTION in the Americas," is finally back on tour. If you're interested in helping bring them to Brown, please contact Heather_Vail@brown.edu

5. Women's History Month: "From the Global to the Local"
    *This year's Women's History Month has a focus on connecting the global to the local, with many events relevant to Oxfam
    *4 P.M. on March 8th: Maria Otero from ACCION International will speak about micro-credit
    *Panel discussion on domestic violence among immigrants here in Rhode Island
    *Lecture on worldwide women's health issues

6. The Global Week of Action (24-30 April)
    *Start thinking about events for the Global Week of Action...it's never too early to start planning

7. Activities Fair on Tuesday, February 7th
