The year is coming to a close and that means it is time to watch 5 Phi Psi seniors graduate and to welcome alumni back for another raucous, memorable reunion weekend at the Phi Psi house! The following are important dates for the weekend. And of course we will be stocked up in Father O'Shea's Pub for late-nights each evening. WWI Letters

Brothers,

I've recently been informed by a Professor of mine, Professor Ann Dill (sociology), that there exists a collection of letters at the John Hay library written to and from Brown during World War I. A good portion of the letters were between Phi Psi brothers, in particular correspondence with Ed Aldrich, a brother who remained at Brown. We are looking into exploring these letters further, with the hopes of a larger project developing from them. It is in the very early stages and I have not actually seen the letters yet (though I am setting up a time to do so), but I will have more updates as things progress. I am extremely excited to explore this opportunity.

What's new for the month of October

1) We'd like to start by congratulating our newly initiated class of brothers, 13 strong. They are and incredibly close group of guys and excited to be a part of the Phi Kappa Psi family.

2) Thank you to all the alumni who came back for homecoming weekend. We loved your stories, insight, and debauchery, showing us that the Phi Psi spirit lives on after graduation. It is our sincerest hope that you all come back soon.

3) Community Service:
- The brothers of RI Alpha decorated the main green pink, and wore pink ribbons in support of Breast Cancer Awareness. Hopefully progress continues and a cure is found sooner rather than later.

- We also just finished today with Halloween on Wriston for Providence elementary school children, in conjunction with the Greek Houses at Brown University. It was a huge success, and amidst the chaos of excited kids, our bobbing for apples event quickly turned into a team competition to toss ping pong balls into pumpkins. Everyone won at the end when the candy was distributed.

4) Upcoming Events:
- Friday (Nov. 2) will be our annual Halloween party. It is always a highly anticipated event and we look forward to hosting a great time for the campus while dressing in ridiculous costumes.

- Friday (Nov. 10) we will be hosting a nonpartisan event with the Brown Democrats to raise money for charity. Our share of the proceeds will be donated to the American Red Cross in support of rebuilding efforts after the tragic fires in Southern California.

- Friday (Nov. 30) will be our 2nd annual Afrobeat event, hosted along with the Darfur Action Network. The Superpowers (formerly known as the Boston Afrobeat Society) is currently a 2007 Boston Music Award nominee. All proceeds will support ending the genocide in Darfur. Last year was a great success and this year should be no different.

6pm Alumni Cocktail at Phi Kappa Psi, Sears House

The last few months we have been impressed and grateful for all the alumni who have stopped back to share memories and the occasional drink with us, and we would love to have you back at the house for Homecoming to continue our great Phi Psi tradition. Please RSVP to amirv@brown.edu if you plan on joining us for any of these events so that we may plan accordingly.
