Ebony Soiree 2006

SOCA will be having Elections in March or Early April for their new Eboard for the Academic Year 2007-2008. All Active members are eligible for a position. At least one position however must be filled by a freshman of that year and the position to be open will be decided on by the current Eboard at the current time of the Election.

Brief Description of Positions

Co-Chairs
The co-chairs are responsible for calling and conducting all the E-board and general body meetings of the club. This includes planning the focus of the meetings and facilitating discussion on issues chosen for discussion. The co-chair is only excused from such duties under extreme circumstances.
Theys are liaisons between the club members and the university and are responsible for representing the club in official matters such as the petitioning of funds (at UFB and/or other university and departmental offices) and dealing with any disciplinary actions involving the club. They are expected to effectively delegate duties and responsibilities to the other members of the club and visibly support the programs and initiatives of the organization. Most importantly, they are expected to perform all duties as called upon by the organization, including temporarily filling in/finding replacements for other members of the e-board in the event they and/or their assistant are unable to carry out their duties.
Treasurer
The main treasurer must be a signatory for the club, and are responsible for overseeing the club's finances. This includes the keeping of a budget and requesting a budget for the following semester. The treasurer is required to submit a report of the finances of the club at the beginning, middle and end of semesters to the E-board and the general body. The budget request should be approved by the new E-board (for the following year) and the general body.
Public Rela
tions Officer
The PRO is in charge of event management and promotion. This includes the registering of the event, securing entertainment if required, the organizing of party managers and those who will part-take in shifts at the door. They are also in charge of promotion and the delegation of promotional activities within the general body, including the placement of posters, table slipping and submission of promo-screen material. In the case of larger events, they are expected to secure the necessary licenses.
Secretary
The secretary is responsible for recording the minutes of the club's general and E-board meetings. At E-board meetings he/she is responsible for taking note of the agenda for the upcoming general body meetings as decided on by members of the E-board. He/She is responsible for sending club announcements to the general body, such as ‘meeting reminders', ‘change in meeting times', and any other reminders to members regarding certain tasks. He/She is also responsible for writing letters to University offices and departments regarding club issues, which must be approved by one or both co-chairs before being sent.
