Lesley Butcher is a freshman from Northern California who spent the better part of this year in the outdoors. During the spring, she backpacked, canoed, and spear-fished her way through the Kimberley region of the Australian Outback, and during the summer she guided whitewater rafts down the South Fork American River in California. Now that she has been transplanted from her West Coast home,Miss Butcher surfs the magical shores of Rhode Island and works for Brown University's journal of environment and culture in order to fulfill her need of the thrill-ride that is nature.
