Work with Watershed

Watershed is a rapidly growing community of hard-working undergraduates. Since being founded in the fall of 2003 with a staff of three, Watershed's staff has grown to over twenty.

Working with Watershed is a unique and challenging opportunity. As a journal that publishes the work of undergraduates alongside that of professional artists and authors, Watershed has a staff that meets weekly to select material, communicate with contributors, and guide the vision of the journal. As Watershed is so new, we are constantly adapting. This means that not only will you edit, write, and participate in meetings, but you will also have the opportunity to craft the identity of what will become an enduring community at Brown. It is a rare opportunity—one we find to be tremendously exciting.

We'd like you to join us.

Who Can Apply?

Anyone who is a member of the Brown or RISD community can apply. While prior experience with publications is helpful, our main concern is that you're passionate about what we're doing. So apply. You've nothing to lose and everything to gain.

How to Apply

First, look over our organizational plan (PDF, 200k) to get a sense of how the community is organized and where you'd like to fit in.

Once you have looked it over, fill out the application (PDF, 181k). Be sure to tell us what your strengths are, so we can put you in contact with the appropriate editor. If you're not sure where you would like to fit in, no worries—just fill out the application and we will work with you to figure this out.

Then submit the application, and wait for the phone call. We'll be in touch as soon as we can.

We look forward to hearing from you.
