Sabbaticals and Leaves
Sabbaticals are available to all regular Brown faculty of professorial rank, while scholarly leaves are available to full-time lecturers whose teaching posts are not concurrent and contingent with and upon regular staff positions. Sabbaticals and scholarly leaves are intended to enhance scholarship and/or teaching through a plan of study, research or other appropriate activity as approved by the Dean of the Faculty. Details on rules governing sabbaticals and scholarly leaves, as well as leave on special assignment, leaves of absence, and junior sabbaticals can be found in the Handbook of Academic Administration, chapter thirteen.
