The International Affairs Travel Fund is available to full time Brown graduate students who are conducting research abroad or have been invited to deliver a paper orally before an audience at an international conference.
Only one application for the International Travel Fund is permitted in a fiscal (budget) year, July 1 - June 30, and is intended solely as a supplementary allowance to assist with related travel expenses.
Awards may range from $250-$1000. Applicants may combine this fund with Graduate School funds and other sources.
Requests for the IATF may be submitted at any time prior to travel.

The University has contracted with International SOS to provide Brown University travelers with 24 hour worldwide medical and travel assistance, including emergency evacuation.

Application requirements:
Application must be received prior to travel
For research trips:
- A one page double-spaced research plan for the specific trip
- A brief statement of support from student’s graduate advisor regarding how the research will assist the student with the completion of a Master’s or doctoral program.
For speaking engagements:
- Letter of invitation/acceptance
- A copy of the conference program
- Faculty statement of support
Reimbursement will be processed with a Travel Expense Report following University guidelines.
