NSF requires that all proposals explicitly address broader impacts to promote education, outreach, and the benefits to society of the scientific research proposed. There are many resources at Brown to assist investigators in identifying meaningful, easy to implement programs capable of demonstrating broader impacts. At this workshop, members of Brown’s Broader Impacts Committee will: provide an overview of the meaning of broader impacts, share resources available for faculty leverage of successful broader impacts initiatives at Brown and brainstorm with faculty to develop ideas for the broader impacts components of your research grants.
