The first of a series of SAC monthly open forums took place July 23 at the Watson Institute for International Studies. The conversation was robust. Topics discussed included parking (a perennial favorite!), the impact of Workday Financials on staff in financial positions, age discrimination, and the gone-but-not-forgotten Holiday Bazaar.
President Paxson recently announced that the University Ombuds Office, which in the past served the faculty and postdoctoral communities, would expand its services beginning August 1, 2013 to include all staff (union and non-union) and graduate students. (Distributed August 1, 2013)
The President’s Staff Advisory Council (SAC) is pleased to notify Brown University staff of two openings for staff on the Public Safety Oversight Committee. PSOC is an advisory committee that reviews the practices, policies, and procedures of the Department of Public Safety and makes policy recommendations where appropriate. (Distributed July 31, 2013)
SAC is pleased to announce that we have elected Joseph Browne, NSP Coordinator in the Dean of the College’s Office, and Christopher Gilbody, Assistant Director of Financial Aid, to jointly chair the Council for 2014. Jo and Chris will serve as co-chairs with current chair Jessica Hodgdon from now through December; in January they will take over full chair responsibilities from Jessica. We are delighted at their enthusiasm for their new role and we look forward to what we are sure will be exciting contributions from both.
SAC has scheduled monthly open forums through the end of the year. We'd like to hear from you about the issues that concern you as Brown staff members.
