2 main dining halls, 11 food venues, more than 2 million meals a year!
In addition to the Sharpe Refectory and Verney-Woolley, Dining Services operates 6 retail venues, 2 mini-marts and the cafe carts. If you're confused about where you can use meal credit vs. points, check out the Dining Services' campus eateries information page. Bear Bucks can be used at all Dining venues. Hours of operation, including holiday /Break schedules, are available on the Dining Services website.
All actively-enrolled Brown students are eligible for meal plan. 80% of undergraduate students participate in meal plan. First-year undergrads are required to be on a meal plan.
There are 10 meal plans to choose among so you can find the best fit for your schedule and lifestyle. Meal plan options include Weekly Plans, Flex Plans, and Kosher and Halal Plans. You can change your meal plan selection on line in selfservice.brown.edu; deadlines for making meal plan changes are posted on the Brown Dining website.
An off-campus meal plan is available to undergraduates with off-campus housing permission from the Office of Residential Life, to graduate and medical students, and to RUE and commuter students. This plan has a certain number of meals/points per semester that enables you to eat some of your meals in the dining venues -- perhaps making it easier to grab lunch between classes and labs, or to eat with other students and faculty.
Graduate and Medical Students
Graduate and Medical students may choose to participate in any meal plan for convenience. Dining service Meal Plans follow the undergraduate academic calendar, and there is no Meal Plan service between semesters, during spring break or over the summer; Brown Dining offers special meal plans during many breaks.
