Dear Brown students:

We will update you early this evening about the plans for University activities tomorrow.  The most severe wind and flooding is expected this afternoon and tonight.  Classes were cancelled today for your safety -- please keep your time outdoors to a minimum as we move into the more damaging stage of this hurricane.

For students on campus, the Sharpe Refectory and Verney-Woolley Dining Halls are open.  Emergency response services, such as Brown's Department of Public Safety and Emergency Medical Services, are fully operational for all students if needed. Should you need help, please call 401-863-4111.  We also have on-call staff available in other student service units (Office of Student Life, Psychological Services, and University Health Service).

You can continue to check the Brown homepage and the Emergency Announcements website (http://emergency.brown.edu/) for updates.  Stay inside, stay warm, dry, and safe.

Thank you for your cooperation.

Sincerely,

Margaret Klawunn
Vice President for Campus Life and Student Services
