Trees and the Urban Heat Island Effect: a casestudy for Providence, Rhode Island was featured in an article in today's Brown Daily Herald (BDH).  The report complied by the spring 2010 class ENVS 1920: "Analysis and Resolution of Environmental Problems and Case Studies," and released last May, explored the social and environmental impacts of trees in the city.

Students created GIS maps, surveyed Providence residents and investigated funding sources for urban tree planting.  Professor Timmons Roberts, who lead the class, and students who participated in the research discuss their experience with the project in the BDH article.
