The BEO program provides students with a balance of theory and practice that readies them for success outside the classroom.  Working with faculty advisors and non-faculty business practitioners, students are encouraged to undertake internships that complement and enrich their academic choices.

Students are able to pursue internships with a wide range of organizations, giving them the experience to be successful in any number of chosen careers once they leave Brown. Domestic internship opportunities range from investment banking to non-profit, including consulting firms, the public sector, and start-ups. These internships are coordinated through the Center for Careers and Life after Brown (CareerLAB).

BEO has also collaborated with alumni and partner universities to offer international internships in India, Hong Kong and Madrid. All internships abroad are during the summer, with travel and accommodation costs covered. The internships provide exposure to the working environment of global markets in high-growth emerging market or mature economies. At the same time, students are immersed in very different cultures in Asia and Europe. The range of industries that accept our students spans the disciplines featured in BEO, including financial services, consulting, technology, retailing, marketing and research.
