Job Description

Orientation Welcoming Committee 2013
Orientation Leader* Application

Orientation is one of the most important periods of time for a young person’s academic career.  Here at Brown, we welcome students from all over the country and all over the world to our home on College Hill.

Our Orientation Welcoming Committee, or OWC for short, is one of the many groups responsible for helping introduce students to the Brown University community.  OWC is responsible for planning and executing fun, social programming for Orientation while providing new students the guidance and leadership needed to successfully adapt to Brown University.

We are looking for an active, diverse group of current Brown students who are willing to work with one another to help new students acclimate themselves to the Brown community.  We are looking for a staff that reflects the diversity of a campus that features students from more than 90 countries and whose interests are reflected by the more than 400 student clubs and organizations we have on campus.

Orientation Leaders should:

· Be positive and friendly with enthusiastic attitudes

· Have knowledge of the University

· Possess interpersonal and leadership skills

· Demonstrate individual initiative & team work skills

· Be creative, fun-loving students who love Brown!

The Orientation Leader selection process consists of the included application and an interview with two members of the OWC student leadership team.

Instructions for the application are included on the second page along with instructions for signing up for an interview.

During your interview, you will learn more specific details about the program including: early move-in dates, training dates, and your responsibilities as an Orientation Leader.

If you have any questions, please feel free to email Andy Donahue, Coordinator of Student Activities & Orientation, at Andrew_Donahue@brown.edu or our Student Directors, Wendy Rogers & Frank Riley, at BrownOWC@gmail.com.

Thanks,

 The Orientation Welcoming Committee
