Course Lotteries, First Readings Film, Budgeting for Brown
June 26th, 2014
Dear incoming Brown students, This week's email provides information on two different course lotteries, the First Readings film, and planning for Brown from a financial standpoint. Course Lotteries The CAP/FYS lottery closes at 5:00 pm Eastern Daylight Time on Tuesday, July 8. A couple of new courses have been added to the offerings, so take a look and see if there's anything else that interests you. If spots remain open in any courses, you can also add them to your schedule during the fall registration period. The Visual Arts 0100 lottery opens on July 15 and closes on August 5. Visual Arts 0100 (Studio Foundation) is a popular introductory course suitable for potential VISA concentrators and non-concentrators alike. Both lotteries can be accessed from the Summer Deadlines Checklist. Summer Film & Letter to your Advisor (August 15 deadline)Once you've had a chance to watch Oil and Water, the documentary film we've asked you to view this summer, please write a letter to your academic advisor using the film as a starting point for introducing yourself. We want you to approach this letter less as an academic exercise and more as a way to give your advisor some idea of who you are and how you think. It's also an opportunity to tell your advisor something about your goals for the next four years. Use this link to upload your letter and please get it to us no later than August 15, so that your advisor can have it well in advance of your first appointment on September 2.
