Barcelona

The Consortium for Advanced Studies in Barcelona (CASB) offers a full-immersion program in one of the leading cities of the world. This program is designed for students in all disciplines with advanced Spanish and/or Catalan skills. Students are immersed in the local university environment and take most of their courses at one or more of the Consortium’s partner universities: the Universitat de Barcelona (UB), the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB), the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC), and the Universitat Pompeu Fabra (UPF). Santander/University of Cantabria

Students in the STEM fields of engineering and physics can sit alongside local students at the University of Cantabria, one of the most prestigious schools of engineering in Europe, in the beautiful northern Spanish coastal city of Santander.  No Spanish language proficiency is required for either program option.

  • Engineering ProgramThis program is especially suited for civil, environmental, and mechanical engineering concentrators, given its focus on structures and environmental problems. The program concludes with a six- to eight-week summer internship placement with a Spanish engineering firm or public-sponsored engineering project. Learn more
  • Physics ProgramNew for Spring 2014, this program offers a unique opportunity for declared Physics concentrators, with courses in experimental techniques, astronomy, and particle physics. Science coursework taught in English is complemented by Spanish language and culture study. Learn more.

Granada

Brown offers students two unique programs at the University of Granada.  Regardless of whether you are a native Spanish speaker or have just learned a few basic words, Granada can meet your needs.  

  • Intensive Language Program: Students with beginning to intermediate language levels of Spanish language proficiency take a full load of courses at the University of Granada's Center for Modern Languages (CLM). Learn more.
  • Translation Program: Students with exceptional Spanish language skills enroll in a semester program of study at the University of Granada's Faculty of Translation and Interpretation.  This program prepares students for careers that require significant exposure to a second language. Learn more.
