Mathew Johnson Named as Director of the Swearer Center and Associate Dean for Engaged Scholarship

We are excited to share an announcement that went out to the Brown University community from our Dean of the College Maud Mandel. Mathew Johnson will join our staff on January 1, 2016 as Director of the Swearer Center and the Associate Dean for Engaged Scholarship. We will be in touch with all members of the Swearer Center community - including students, community partners, and alumni - in the coming weeks to introduce Mathew and share details on a welcoming event this fall.

Rising senior Manuel Contreras was in Washington Thursday, July 23, taking part in a White House “Beating the Odds” panel with First Lady Michelle Obama, U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan and musical artist Wale. Contreras is a co-founder of 1vyG, an organization that supports first-generation college students.
