Current Needs

Mentor a Student Entrepreneur
We are currently looking for alumni social entrepreneurs or social change leaders with 4+ years of professional experience to mentor students selected for our Social Innovation Fellowship (formerly known as the Starr Fellowship). Mentors work with fellows for the full year of the Fellowship - January through December '14 - and commit to a 1 hour interaction per month (phone/Skype or in person). As a mentor, you play a significant role in the venture's development as both a coach and advisor, but also in the student's development as a personal supporter of the Fellow him/herself.

Please express your interest in the position by filling out this form. Please note: making the right match between student and mentor is important to us, so your interest will only be considered a commitment if and when the right Fellow is selected.

Tell Your Story
The new Storytellers for Good program selected four students this fall to capture stories of social innovation across the university through interviews with students, alumni, faculty, and staff. The stories - presented through photos, audio, video, illustration, and words - will be shared with the Brown community on a dynamic, new web platform launching early next year. The goal of this platform is to elevate the voices and experiences of innovators in our network in order to spark new stories and connections.

If you know a great story about a faculty, student, alum, or innovative venture at Brown, please send an email to with a brief summary and answer to the question: “Why does this story matter to Brown's social innovation community?”
