About SummerPrep
SummerPrep program is designed to provide students entering grades 2 - 6 with quality childcare during the summer while giving children an opportunity to make lots of new friends in a fun learning environment. Summer Prep is held at Community Preparatory School and is open to children in the Providence area entering grades 2 - 6 in the fall.
Children enjoy structured activities and workshops in performance and creative arts, sports and leisure, academic subjects and more SummerPrep runs Monday - Friday, for three weeks in July from 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m and is FREE for all students.
Schedule
The Summer Prep Program will take place from July 1–July 19. Students are expected to attend all classes from 8:00 am–12:00 pm.
Meals
Breakfast: served daily from 8am–8:30am
Snack: served daily from 10:10am–10:40 am
Small Classes
With a total enrollment of approximately 100 Students, and a faculty of more than 25 teachers, all students will receive individual attention. The typical class size for the Summer Prep program is between 14-18 children per class.
Teaching Staff
Classes are taught by teams of students enrolled in the Master of Arts in Teaching program at Brown University. Teaching teams are led by exemplary mentor teachers from local schools. Teacher Education faculty supervise and collaborate with each of the teams. Teams develop fun and engaging learning opportunities with guidance from Community Preparatory School and Brown University Education Department staff.
Release of Children
Pickups: All children that participate in the Summer Prep must be picked up from Community Prep no later than 12:00 pm. When a parent or guardian arrives to pick up their child(ren), they must go to the designated dismissal area to officially sign out their child. Only persons listed on the Parent Authorization Release Form that have a valid state or government issued photo I.D. will be allowed to pick up a child.
Child Custody: If the parental custody of a child changes for any length of time, the custodial parent is required to inform the staff in writing. Summer Prep also requires any updated court-ordered custodial documents and/or restraining orders. These documents will be kept in strict confidence.
