We are pleased to invite you to a symposium to further define and develop the Human-Robot Interaction (HRI) Initiative at Brown, which was recently selected by the Academic Priorities Committee for greater exploration as part of the Signature Academic Initiatives process. The field of HRI raises fundamental questions about cognition and action in humans and robots and their increasingly sophisticated interactions. HRI research is inherently multidisciplinary and calls for contributions from science, the arts, and industry. Applications in healthcare and medicine, service industries, manufacturing, and scientific exploration have the potential to enhance human productivity and enrich our quality of life. Brown's Initiative in Human-Robot Interaction is an opportunity to nurture and raise Brown's profile in the HRI field and leverage Brown's interdisciplinary and entrepreneurial culture to study and shape the future role of robotics in society. We are still finalizing the format and speakers for the symposium. As soon as we have confirmed all the details, we will send you a formal invitation, including a program. Until then, please save the date and we look forward to seeing you on May 6th! 121 South Main Street, 11th Floor
