What happens when human-robot interactions become relationships? The film "Robot & Frank" offers the hilarious and heartwarming story about such a relationship, which results in finding friends and family in the most unexpected places. Set in the near future, Frank, a retired cat burglar, has two grown kids who are concerned he can no longer live alone. They are tempted to place him in a nursing home until Frank’s son chooses a different option: against the old man’s wishes, he buys Frank a walking, talking humanoid robot programmed to improve his physical and mental health. Starring Frank Langella, Susan Sarandon, James Marsden, Liv Tyler, Peter Sarsgaard and Jeremy Sisto. The screening will be immediately followed by a lively discussion with the leaders of Brown's Humanity-Centered Robotics Initiative (HCRI): Professors Bertram Malle (Cognitive, Linguistic, and Psychological Sciences), Michael Littman (Computer Science), and Chad Jenkins (Computer Science). Doors open at 5:45. Popcorn will be available. Even during the film. Sponsored by the HCRI (Humanity-Centered Robotics Initiative http://hcri.brown.edu/) and ISG (Information Security Group http://brown.edu/go/isg). Watch the trailer: http://bit.ly/1jR7o
