Visit Us

Brown University is situated in the heart of historic Providence, Rhode Island, approximately one hour south of Boston and three hours north of New York City – both large metropolitan cites accessible by train. However, you need not travel far to find rich culture and diverse activities in Providence.  Providence is an ethnically- and culturally rich city, with world famous ethnic cuisine scattered in and about the city, as well as many artistic outlets along with a rich mix of colonial architecture on Benefit Street.

Brown Engineering is located at 182 Hope Street in the Barus and Holley Building, Giancarlo Lab, and Prince Lab. You can access the main lobby from the parking area on the corner of George Street and Hope Street. You can also access the main lab off Brook Street between Waterman and George Streets.

The Admissions Office offers campus tours and science tours for prospective students to get to know our campus and our current students. Additionally, Engineering student guided tours are available during the academic year on most Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays at 3:00 p.m.

Coming from the West, North or South:

From Interstate 95, take Exit 22 ("Downtown") onto Memorial Boulevard. At the fifth light, take a left from Memorial over the bridge onto College Street, at the top of which is located the Brown campus. Visitors who wish to continue to the Admission Office should turn left on Prospect. The Office is on the right-hand side at the second traffic light, at the corner of Prospect and Angell. Visitors who wish to continue to Brown Engineering should take a right off Prospect onto Waterman Street. You will then turn right on Brook Street and you can park in the Visitor lot on the left.

From the East:
From Interstate 195, take Exit 2 onto South Main Street. Turn right at the signal onto College Street, at the top of which is located the Brown campus. Visitors who wish to continue to the Admission Office should turn left on Prospect. The Office is on the right-hand side at the second traffic light, at the corner of Prospect and Angell. Visitors who wish to continue to Brown Engineering should take a right off Prospect onto Waterman Street. You will then turn right on Brook Street and you can park in the Visitor lot on the left.

Modes of Transportation:
Kennedy Plaza, the local bus service hub, and Union Station, home to trains from Amtrak and the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA), are both downtown, just a short walk or taxi ride from campus. T.F. Green Airport is 10 miles south, in Warwick, R.I.
