In these literary periods, something arrives in England, whether it is the Anglo Saxon invaders, Christianity, French medieval romance, or the continental example of renaissance. Readings include Beowulf, Wanderer, Dream of the Rood, Chaucer's Canterbury Tales, Spenser's Shepheards Calendar and Faerie Queene, and Milton's Paradise Lost.
