Dear doctoral students:
The academic year is officially open, and I want you to know about important dates and deadlines and who to contact with your questions. First, though, I will brief you on some policy updates.
The Graduate School is now administering the International Travel Fund. Eligibility and the application process are detailed here.
Separately, we have modified the process for seeking Conference Travel funds, creating an application. Graduate students who present at academic conferences can apply to the Graduate School for up to $500 to cover related travel expenses. Application is required, and eligible graduate students will be reimbursed for a maximum of one conference per fiscal year (July 1 through June 30), as determined by the end date of travel. Details and the application are available here.
We also have updated and strengthened our Incentive Policy for doctoral students, aiming to increase the number applying for and receiving external funding. Among other things, the new policy raises the maximum award allowance for students who win 12-month external awards. For the updated policy, please click here.
We archive communications to students, such as this one, on our website. You can see these messages here.
Please see our Important Dates and Deadlines document, which can be found on the website within the student gateway.
If you are unsure which dean or staff member to contact with a question or concern, please see our Deans and Staff page (found under About the Graduate School) or check the extensive listing on the brand new “Who to Ask” page for students.
Thank you for your time and attention.
