Lisa Jarnot is a New York-based poet whose most recent books are Black Dog Songs (2003) and Ring of Fire (2001). A nonfiction work, The Ambassador from Venus: A Literary Biography of Robert Duncan, is forthcoming from the University of California Press in 2006. Ms. Jarnot is also co-editor of the Subpress Collective Book Collaborative and a past editor of the The Poetry Project Newsletter. A 1994 recipient of the MFA in Creative Writing at Brown, Ms. Jarnot is currently Assistant Professor of Composition and Literature at Long Island University in Brooklyn, New York.
