Jaimy Gordon is the author of four novels, Shamp of the City-Solo, Bogeywoman, She Drove Without Stopping and Lord of Misrule, for which she received the National Book Award for Fiction for 2010. A book about horses, horse racing and lives lived at a low-stakes race track, Lord of Misrule was described by Janet Maslin of the New York Times as “assured, exotic, and uncategorizable… an incontrovertible winner, a bolt from the blue.”
A graduate of Brown University, from which she received one of only three Doctor of Arts degrees in Creative Writing ever awarded by the university, Ms. Gordon has taught at Brown, Roger Williams University, Eastern Washington State College, and Western Michigan University, where she is currently on faculty.
