FM Residency Receives Grant to Transform Primary Care for Children and Adolescents

The Department of Family Medicine received a five-year Health Services Administration (HRSA) grant for “Transforming Family-centered Primary Care for Children and Adolescents in Underserved Areas.” The grant will enhance the training of Family Medicine residents and faculty, as well as medical students at Memorial and community faculty in the underserved communities of Pawtucket and Central Falls.

Brown Family Medicine Faculty Recognized at Alpert Medical School Graduation

The Alpert Medical School of Brown University Class of 2015 honored Drs. Jordan White and Paul George at this year's commencement. Dr. White received a Profiles in Competence Award, while Dr. George received one of four faculty awards as well as the Senior Citation, the most prestigious faculty award, for the third year in a row. The department of Family Medicine was the only department to have multiple faculty members elected to be marshals and receive awards!

Brown Transgender Medicine Conference

Brown Family Medicine held a Transgender Medicine Conference at the Alpert Medical School on Saturday, January 10.  This one-day conference provided education on important concepts related to caring for transgender patients, increasing provider knowledge and the community's access to care.  Experts from the region presented on best practices and lessons on their own work.
