Memorial or Tribute Gifts

Looking for a meaningful way to honor a mentor or loved one?

Gifts to the BMAF can be made in memory of a beloved faculty member, a loved one, or friend. Gifts can also be made in honor of someone, a directive that can be noted in the annual Honor Roll of Donors.

Term scholarships can be established when gifts reach $15,000 or more and are a meaningful way to honor the lives of loved ones. For example, a term scholarship was established in memory of Larry Shaw, husband of Associate Dean of Medicine (PLME and Visiting and International Medical Students) Julianne Ip ’75 MD’78. Larry passed away in November 2010 and memorial gifts from his family, friends, and members of the Brown faculty and staff established a term scholarship to help a PLME student complete his or her medical education.

The Larry A. Shaw Memorial Term Scholarship was awarded to Kimberly Matthews ’06 MD’12, an Africana Studies concentrator interested in pediatrics and neonatology.
