Application Process

How to Apply

Candidates for the MD Class of 2016 must apply through the American College Application Service (AMCAS). You must submit the AMCAS application before November 1 to be eligible for admission into the next year’s incoming class.

All applicants who designate “Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University” as a receiving school on the AMCAS application will receive paper mail and electronic mail instructions for the online secondary application. The secondary application contains Brown-specific information and requires a non-refundable fee of $100. AMCAS fee waivers are accepted.

Once your AMS secondary application has been processed, you will receive two emails with a username, password, and instructions on how to check the status of your application via Brown University's secure online information system (Banner).  Through this site, you will be able to access up-to-date information regarding your application, including confirmation of the Admissions Office's receipt of supporting materials, notification of missing information, and the decision on a file once it has been determined.

We encourage you to submit all of your application materials early in the cycle, and no secondary application received after the deadline of December 31, 2011, will be considered. Incomplete applications are not reviewed by the Admissions Committee.

Candidates selected for interview are notified by email. All candidates should receive a notice of interview status before the end of February. Only those candidates who are interviewed will be considered for admission.
