Applying for Financial Aid
A student at Alpert Medical School may apply for financial aid through external sources, which typically consist of Federal student loans, or through Institutional sources consisting of need-based loans or scholarship funds available from the Alpert Medical School. If you wish to be considered for either federal or institutional funding see below for the required forms.
The deadline to return all application materials is April 2.
Federal Aid Only
Students applying for Federal Aid only must submit:
- Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
- Student Non-Filer Form (if student is not required to file a tax return)
*Please note: Due to changes in federal procedures, e-file your tax return at least two weeks prior to submitting your FAFSA. This will help to ensure that your tax information is processed by the IRS in time to be retrieved electronically into your FAFSA, and will decrease the likelihood that you will be selected for verification by the federal government. For students at the graduate level and beyond, parental information is not required in the FAFSA.
Institutional Aid
Students applying for Institutional Aid must submit the following:
- FAFSA
- Need Access Form
- Alpert Medical School Financial Aid Application
- 2011 Parental Federal Tax Returns (signed and complete), Tax Schedules and W2 forms
- Parent Non-Filer Form (if one or both parents are not required to file a tax return)
*Please note: If parents plan to request a tax extension, we will require the following forms by the April 2 deadline:
- Copy of tax extension
- 2010 Parental Federal Tax Returns, Tax Schedules, and W2 forms
