Commencement Procession
Brown University’s Commencement is one of the most colorful and enjoyable academic pageants in the country. Alumni are welcome to march in the Commencement procession (academic regalia required) and attend the ceremony. The Medical School’s Commencement Procession will begin to form in front of Faunce House on Waterman Street (extending back to Thayer Street) on Sunday, May 26, promptly at 10:30 a.m., and will step off at approximately 10:45 a.m.
Regalia
It is customary for medical alumni to wear academic regalia—a gown, tam, and hood representative of their degree. There is also an option to wear a traditional cutaway with high silk hat and plain white shirt. Rentals are available through Quirk Academic Sales & Apparel or the Brown Bookstore.

Academic regalia and the traditional cutaway suit are both available through Quirk. Rentals may be picked up at Maddock Alumni Center (38 Brown Street) on Saturday, May 25 from 3 to 6 p.m. or the morning of Commencement from 8 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. Attire must be returned to Maddock by 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, May 26.

Brown Bookstore
Academic regalia only is available for rental. To order online, please visit the Brown Bookstore website, click on "Brown University Commencement Rentals (For Faculty & Visiting Faculty)," and select the MD black gown and hood (available with either tam or cap). Rental orders may also be placed in person at the bookstore or mailed in with a check. Please place your order by Wednesday, May 1, to avoid additional fees. Commencement rentals may be picked up at the bookstore beginning Friday, May 17. Bookstore hours for Commencement/Reunion weekend will be:
Friday, May 24, 2013: 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Saturday, May 25, 2013: 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Sunday, May 26, 2013: 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
