Highlights

  • Student-led tours  of the new Medical School Building, which recently celebrated its grand opening, will be available on Friday, October 14, from 10:30 am to noon. On Sunday, October 16, the building will be open from 9:00 am to 10:30 am for self-guided and student-hosted tours. To learn more about the building, visit http://med.brown.edu/newbuilding/grandopening.
  • This year the Medical Parents Committee will be hosting a welcome breakfast on Friday, October 14, at 9:30 am in the recently completed Medical School Building intended for all those interested in learning more about the Committee’s work. The Medical Parents Committee offers parents of PLME and medical students a great opportunity to become more involved in Alpert Medical School. Members are asked to be goodwill ambassadors for the Medical School and participate in special programs and events of interest to parents designed to familiarize them with the School, its programs, and faculty.
  • The Ceremony of Commitment to Medicine, where each first-year medical student receives an Alpert Medical School white coat, marking his or her entry into the world of medicine is a highlight of the weekend. The ceremony will be held on Saturday, October 15, at 4:00 pm at the First Unitarian Church, One Benevolent Street, Providence.  A reception at the Hope Club, located directly across the street from the church, will be held immediately following the ceremony. View detailed information about the ceremony for students and families.
  • The Parents and Family Handbooks for both PLME and medical programs are now available online and accessible from this page. Drawing on input from deans, students, and current and past parents, this overview provides a curriculum summary for the undergraduate program and medical school, plus additional details about our student’s classroom and clinical training, advising, professional development, electives, extracurricular activities, recreation, and more. Please take a moment to peruse the information. View parents and family handbook.
