NSP has launched several initiatives to deal with smaller, more manageable components of its overall mission. Each initiative has its own team of student coordinators, mission, procedures, policies, and assessments to govern its operation and ensure the successful service of its target population. The NSP Coordinator oversees each of these initiatives and provides quality control and cohesion to the organization

The NSP Peer Academic and Leadership Initiative provides 1-on-1 mentoring to under-reprented students in STEM concentrations. NSP:PAL Mentors are well-rounded Brown students who concentrate in a STEM field and have the desire and ability to help others achieve their full potential. NSP:PAL Students have a strong interest in a STEM concentration and are committed to partnering with NSP:PAL Mentors in their academic journey.

NSP Catalyst, is a pre-orientation program for underrepresented students in the sciences. It is designed to increase student preparedness for the sciences at Brown by exposing students to a rigorous scientific course and teaching study skills necessary for success as a science student. Additionally, students in this program are introduced to a variety of faculty and staff who represent the spectrum of resources available on campus.
