Graduate students have a lot of responsibility in preparing undergraduate students to be productive in lab. Our research assistant training support brings trainers together in safe and productive spaces to share best practices, hear from faculty and staff with expertise in this area, and troubleshoot issues that may arise with students.
Participants in this program must be graduate students currently responsible for training undergraduates in their principle investigator's lab. Additionally, participants should be open-minded and ready to contribute ideas and questions in discussion with their peers.
Trainers should plan to spend one hour each month in a discussion group. These meetings are meant to be low-stress, low-key interactions to provide trainers with the opportunity to share their concerns, hear from their peers, and get input from occasional speakers and professors on issues they may be haviing.
