Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Population Studies
Weiwei Zhang is a Postdoctoral Research Associate in Spatial Structures in the Social Sciences (S4) and Population Studies. She received a M.A. in demography from Bowling Green State University and a Ph.D. in Sociology from Brown University. Her primary research interests include immigration assimilation, race/ethnic neighborhoods, and spatial demography in general.
Weiwei has applied demographic and spatial methods to the assessment of health outcomes and residential segregation of minority groups in the U.S. Her dissertation examines the competing theories that explain variations in the residential patterns of Asian minorities in the U.S., paying particular attention to the effects of ethnicity and socioeconomic status. In other work, she has studied ethnic neighborhoods in the historical context of 1800s and 1900s in the U.S.
