Introduction to Electrical and Computer Engineering

This course is expected to run but has not yet been scheduled.

Course Description

Are you curious to learn more about how computers work? Do you want to build your first Android Application? Are you fascinated by Laptops and Smartphones and have an interest in learning how engineers use the iterative design process to make these technologically amazing products? If you answered yes to these questions, this introductory course on electrical and computer engineering is for you!

The purpose of this course is to help stimulate your interest in the fundamental principles of electrical and computer engineering and provide you with the introductory concepts. This course is very hands on. You will build circuits, design a desktop computer, gather and analyze data from sensors and design an android application.

The course begins with an introduction to electricity and proceeds to explore how it is used in our everyday lives. You will learn about the basic components that are in computers and smartphones. After an introduction to the engineering design process you work in teams to address design tasks. So get ready to push yourself, engage in brand new challenges and see what it is like to think like an engineer!

By the end of this course, you will understand the concepts of electricity, be familiar with the engineering process, understand how a computer works and be able to design an Android Application. Walking away from this course, you will have a good sense of what electrical and computer engineers do.

Having some introductory knowledge of physics and calculus is helpful but not required. Familiarity with using Computers and Android devices is strongly encouraged.

*Please Note: This course has a Supplemental Fee of $75.00
