The Future of Science and Technology in Medicine: Brown Campus, Providence | Program Overview

In the 21st century, scientific discoveries, medical breakthroughs, and emerging technologies have a major impact on our daily lives. These innovations effectively address a range of medical needs but also elicit complex questions and dilemmas. We need forward-thinking scientists who are committed to providing principled leadership for our future.

STEM at Brown University

In this course, students will have a unique opportunity to learn about cutting-edge medical research in areas including: genetic and tissue engineering, cloning, stem cell research, medical devices, and epigenetics. Our examination of these controversial topics will include understanding the state of the field today, the way forward, and the ethical implications for the future. Leadership content is integrated into this course, enabling students to simultaneously develop and practice socially responsible leadership.

A Typical Day

Each day is different but generally each full day begins at 9:00 am and ends at 11:00 pm. Activities include classroom discussion, lab tours, recreation, community building, and reflection time.
