Pre-Health Advising Series

April 1, 2014

At a school filled with scientists, humanitarians, and health advocates, there are hundreds of Brown students interested in healthcare careers. Brown’s Science Center, through its Pre-Health Advising Series, strives to provide unique and exciting resources for these students. The Pre-Health Advising Series is a group of events intended to give students an inside look at the various opportunities within the healthcare field. The event series is focused on the actual working experience of healthcare students and professionals.

Previous events have included panels with medical school students, working physicians, physicians who have taken gap years, and pubic health officials. The events are formatted as panel discussions or dinners to create space for dialogue between students and speakers. The goal of the Pre-Health Advising Series is to give students real-world insight into the lives of those working in healthcare career fields. This isn’t a traditional “how do you get in” seminar. Instead, the series gives undergraduates the opportunity to talk with individuals who are several steps ahead of them to learn how they utilized their degrees and interests in healthcare. The Series allows students to learn about the various opportunities before them, and also provides students with the real, nitty-gritty, and uncensored details from an experienced professional.

The Pre-Health Advising Series strives to create a valuable pool of knowledge and experience for all students interested in healthcare careers, and it is a resource you don’t want to miss out on!
