SciComm Exchange - Collegial Conversations about Science Communication

The Metcalf Institute at the URI Graduate School of Oceanography is teaming with Rhode Island NSF EPSCoR to improve communication skills for scientists state-wide through short professional developement programs. Throughout 2014 Metcalf Institute will work to strengthen scientists' communication skills on a more informal level at SciComm Exchange–collegial conversations with featured speakers about different topics in science communication over lunch at higher ed institutions around the state. Gap Year Panel

Learn more about the different options many undergraduates take before
attending graduate school in the sciences. Dr. Esther Choo and Dr. Megan
Ranney will discuss more about their own unique paths to medicine. The
event hopes to help students learn more about the benefits of taking a
gap year to pursue opportunities such as fellowships, research
opportunities, internships, and employment that will make a valuable
gap year.
