It is hard to turn on the news in the United States today without hearing about the latest poll. Why do we care so much about what the masses think? We will take a comprehensive look at the concept of public opinion and its impact on public policy in the United States. We will examine normative and empirical theories about the nature and origins of public opinion. Next, we will explore how public opinion is measured in practice. The content from this course are designed to position you to have sophisticated conversations about public opinion in the United States. This course satisfies the Public Policy Problems requirement.
