Photographs



The photography collection numbers more than 2000 images. Containing only a few nineteenth-century works, the collection focuses primarily on documentary and straight photography from the 1930s to the present.

We have particularly broad holdings of works by Harry Callahan (171, mostly New England images), Aaron Siskind (154), Berenice Abbott (64, from Faces of the 20s, New York in the 30s and The Science Pictures), Margaret Bourke-White, (53 works from the Time/Life archive), Danny Lyon (132, including works from Conversations with the Dead and The Bike Riders), Larry Clark 's Tulsa, and Walker Evans (30). 

The collection includes more recent works by Barbara Bosworth, John Pfahl, Todd Hido, and Frank Gohlke, among others.
