Walking

Walking

We walked, we strolled, we dined – always on alternate Monday mornings and almost always outdoors. Our group gathered for the first time in 1982; it included many of those “original” walkers and newer members, often retirees. Occasionally an expert guided our walks, but more often our “guides” were each other.

Destinations were often parks or nature refuges, but occasionally we visited small towns having an interesting history or a local destination such as the Brown Campus or Swan Pt. Cemetery. A typical walk would cover 2 miles at the most on reasonably even terrain; there were usually options for distance and walking speed. Specific plans were distributed in advance by e-mail or snail mail.

The Walking Group is in abeyance, but it can always be resurrected if someone is interested. Just contact Berit or any one of us if that special person is you.
