Parents and family members are important members of the Brown community. We want you to feel connected to Brown, to understand why your student chose and values Brown, and to know what goes on during the school year. You can learn more about Brown by reading our news online, attending special events on campus, joining Brown chapters in your area, and serving as our best ambassadors for the value of a Brown education. 

Parent Events

All parents are invited to A Day on College Hill, a two-day event in April for all newly accepted students and their families. Family Weekend, a three-day event in October, offers you another opportunity to sample Brown's academic and extracurricular offerings. 

Brown Club & Alumni Events

Brown's Alumni Association has chapters in every large urban area in the U.S. and in many locations abroad. Most groups welcome Brown parents' participation in their local activities. You can view upcoming events in your area at also receive the Brown Alumni Magazinepublished six times a year, which includes information about events in Providence, across the country, and around the world.

The University Events Calendar provides information about all events on campus. View upcoming events or subscribe to "Featured Events at Brown" to receive emails about major lectures and events open to the public.

Parents as Ambassadors

As you learn more about Brown, you will be able to help prospective students and their families think about Brown. Brown parents can also open doors and expand our network by creating apprenticeships, internships, and other opportunities for employing Brown students. Depending on your areas of expertise, you may be invited to join a committee, provide career counseling, suggest campus speakers, or host regional events. Philanthropic support is essential to our University ‘s excellence, and The Parents Leadership Council was formed to provide this critical service for Brown.
