Honoring Those Who Have Served
Each year, Brown honors members of the Brown and Rhode Island communities who have served the nation in the United States military.
The ceremony is organized annually by the Brown University Student Veterans Society with the assistance of the Division of Campus Life & Student Services and the Office of the Dean of the College.
The 2014 Veterans Day celebration was held on November 11, 2014 and featured speeches by:
- Christina Paxson, Brown University President
- Philip Crean '15, Brown student veteran
- Ted Lowe '49, Civilian Aid to the Secretary of the Army
- Jorge Alorza, Mayor of Providence
It also featured the contracting ceremony for Brown ROTC cadet Johnathan Davis '16, national anthem sung by Brown a capella group The Jabberwocks, and color guard by Patriot Battalion Army ROTC.
