Fee: $400.00

Course Description: The aim of the course is to develop basic communicative competence in the Italian language: to enable students to interact using language which is both grammatically correct and appropriate to the situation. The course will concentrate primarily on speaking and listening while providing and opportunity for basic reading and writing. Students will be introduced to "basic" communicative functions (asking and giving information, socializing in everyday situations, expressing likes and dislikes) and will actively practice grammar structures through conversations and role play with the instructor and other learners. Classroom activities will use a variety of techniques and authentic materials. Fifteen minutes has been added to the meeting time for eight classes in order to make up the time that will be missed due to the instructor’s conflict with one of the regularly scheduled classes.
