Residential Advisor and Orientation Assistant Positions

Summer residential positions are hired through the Office of Residential Life.

Brown Environmental Leadership Laboratory (BELL) Leader Fellows

  • Live with staff and students on the Haffenreffer Property
  • Work with Property Manager on facilities maintenance and special projects (~15 hrs/wk)
  • Facilitate several evening workshops on Leadership
  • Facilitate a ropes course each session (training will be provided)
  • Plan and facilitate one hour of Recreation Time every evening
  • Assist instructors with one academic session / day
  • Work closely with instructors to ensure residential aspects of program run smoothly (meals, tents, general policies)
  • Participate in staff meetings with Instructors and Director on Saturday before classes begin, once in the middle of two-week session, and once at the end of each session
  • Assist with set-up and take-down of facilities at Haffenreffer
  • Schedule time off (one day/week) with On-site Director

Compensation:

Requirements:

  • Enrolled in college and completed at least one year
  • Completed a Leadership Institute course or demonstrate significant skill and knowledge relevant to course content
  • Proven experience working in a leadership role with pre-college age students preferred.
  • A positive, can-do attitude with the proven ability to follow through on assignments.
  • Energy and enthusiasm.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with a diverse student body and staff.
  • Team player.
  • Preference will be given to those with valid Lifeguard certification (or ability to complete certification by program start).
  • A criminal background check is required of finalists for this position. Candidates will not be permitted to begin work in this position until completion of a criminal background check deemed satisfactory to Brown.
