grades 10, 11 & 12 with a minimum
age of 15 at the time of the program.
Application deadline: Tuesday, March 11
Program deposit deadline: Friday, March 14
Full payment deadline: Friday, March 28
A complete application consists of 5 items:
- A completed application.
To begin your application, create a connect.brown.edu account by following the link above, click the "My Application" tab, and select the "Brown Env Leadership Gulf Coast" application type.
Parents and Students: Please be sure to create only one account per applicant.
Course selection and enrollment takes place AFTER program admission and receipt of $300 program deposit.
- An essay describing what you hope to gain from participating in this program. (Submit this essay as part of your online application)
- A Teacher's Recommendation
- An Official School Transcript. Applicants should request an official transcript containing their current grades/marks, as well as all grades since 9th grade including Fall 2013. Please ensure an explanation of the scoring system is included in English (for example, 6 = excellent or A = excellent). Transcripts may be uploaded directly within connect.brown.edu using the Upload Documents tab. Transcripts may also be faxed to our office at 401-863-3916 or emailed as an attachment to firstname.lastname@example.org.
- A $50 non-refundable Application Fee
Tuesday, 3/11/2014: Application deadline
Friday, 3/14/2014 – Brown must receive $300 program deposit to confirm attendance by this date. This deposit is non-refundable, except in the case that the program does not run.
Monday, 3/17/2014 – Program confirmation emails sent to students.
NOTE: Do not book your flights or purchase plane tickets until you receive an email from Brown confirming the program.

Scholarships and Fundraising

The deadline to apply for a Dean’s Scholarship is January 27th, 2014. Scholarships are awarded to students who demonstrate financial need and academic merit. Due to high demand and limited scholarship availability for the program, we encourage students to apply as early as possible. All scholarship applicants will be notified of their award status by January 31st, 2014.
